Rail Projects Victoria, Major Transport Infrastructure Authority (RPV), is the Victorian Government body responsible for the delivery of the Metro Tunnel Project, Regional Rail Revival, Melbourne Airport Rail, and the Western Rail Plan including fast rail between key regional cities and Melbourne. RPV, MTIA is responsible for all aspects of the projects including planning and development of the project reference design, site investigations, stakeholder engagement, planning approvals and procurement, through to construction delivery and project commissioning.
About the opportunity
The Lawyer is responsible for providing legal advice and support for the development and delivery of effective legal and commercial strategies and advice to Rail Projects Victoria for the procurement of works for the Melbourne Airport Rail (MAR) project. The role will include liaising and negotiating with stakeholders and the management of specific legal aspects of MAR projects in close association with project teams. The role will involve interaction with stakeholders and other Government departments and agencies.
Key Accountabilities
1. Provide support to the Commercial & Legal team in the provision of legal, commercial and risk management advice and activities in relation to all stages of project development and delivery for MAR projects.
2. Assist with the management and coordination of legal aspects of the procurement activities and transaction processes, development of tender and contractual documentation and commercial and/or legal agreements where required to facilitate the delivery of MAR.
3. Interface with RPV's external legal advisors to ensure a consistent and agreed approach is taken on legal positions which support RPV's expectations.
4. Provide advice to the project teams, Director Legal, and Director Commercial and Legal on on project implementation issues, including matters relating to legislation, contracting, property, stakeholder agreements and matters of public law.
5. Draft, develop and review approvals documentation, prepare briefs and provide ad hoc legal advice to other RPV teams to achieve desired outcomes
