Leisure and Lifestyle Assistant Grade 1 (IN31)


An opportunity has arisen to join the West Gippsland Healthcare Group in the role of casual Lifestyle Assistant at Andrews House - our Aged Care Facility in Trafalgar. The Lifestyle Assistant is recognised as a key support person for the Lifestyle Coordinator.

A major focus of the role is the delivery of specific programs, both group and individual, for the residents within the aged care home. Lifestyle programs are designed to maintain the independence of residents and to improve, maintain and enhance the quality of life of residents through a number of therapeutic, social, emotional, cultural, spiritual and physical activities.

We have casual opportunities available. Casual positions are used to backfill shifts and do not include regular hours.

Our preferred candidates will have:

  • Experience in developing, planning and leading group programs
  • Knowledge of OH&S principles and Aged Care Standards
  • Certificate III in Lifestyle and Leisure
  • Experience working in an Aged Care Residential setting

IMPORTANT: All workers in Aged Care facilities are required to have three doses of COVID vaccination and 2023 influenza vaccination (unless a valid exemption applies).  Evidence of this vaccination will be required to be provided as part of this application.

The West Gippsland Healthcare Group is a customer focused health organisation providing acute medical and surgical, obstetric, emergency, residential care and community health services to 45,000 people in the rural, urban residential, agricultural and industrial areas located within the Baw Baw Shire and beyond. The administrative headquarters are located at West Gippsland Hospital in Warragul, approximately 100kms east of Melbourne. These positions are based at Andrews House Aged Care Facility in Trafalgar.

All appointments with the West Gippsland Healthcare Group are subject to the satisfactory return of professional reference checks, an NDIS Worker Screening Clearance and a current Employee Working with Children Check. All employees must hold current entitlement to work within Australia.  A six month probationary period applies to all new appointments.
