About the role

We have an exciting opportunity available for a motivated and experience Peer Consumer/Carer Educator who is passionate about supporting recovery in public mental health settings.  This role will allow you to make a difference to the learning experience of the mental health clinical workforce.

Reporting into Learning & Teaching (Mental Health) at Eastern Health you will work closely with the team in developing and presenting training that is aligned to the national framework for recovery oriented practice.  You will co- facilitate CRM training and contribute to coaching practice across all Eastern health sites to support the needs of the Mental Health multi-disciplinary workforce. You will provide expertise through developing training which supports the development of the novice learner mental health workforce.

About you

To be successful in this role you will:

Essential:

  • Have a lived experience as a person who has been a consumer of public mental health services, or carer of a person who has been a consumer of public mental health services
  • Demonstrated understanding and empathy of the broad impact of mental illness on consumers and carers/families and of the evidence base for inclusive, family sensitive and recovery oriented practice.
  • Current Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
  • Credentialed in delivery of the Collaborative Recovery Model Training
  • Current Victorian Drivers licence

 Desirable:

  • Experience in coaching methodology and ability to provide coaching to a multi-disciplinary group
  • Experience and capacity in collaboratively presenting and training  educational workshops
  • Understanding of the relevant legislation (including Mental Health Act) and frameworks for recovery oriented practice on working in mental health and with consumers, carers  and families
  •  Ability t0 engage in personal clinical supervision practice
  • Be highly accountable and display a supportive and engaging style
  • Have the ability to work autonomously with excellent organisational, critical thinking, problem solving and prioritisation skills
  • Be experienced in facilitating and contributing to clinical change within the work place
