Lived Experience Mental Health and Wellbeing Act Senior Adviser
Permanent full time including a monthly ADO
$48.76 - $50.22 per hour

Up to $20,000 incentive payments may be available to support relocation

(Be reimbursed for rent, childcare, school fees, relocation costs and more). The Victorian Government has allocated funds to support rural and regional Area Mental Health Services (AMHS) to provide incentives to attract workers to roles that are difficult to fill.

The new workforce relocation and incentive grants program is being administered by Rural Agency Workforce Victoria (RWAV).

About the role

The role of the Lived/Lived Experience- Mental Health and Wellbeing Act Senior Adviser is to actively engage with their own personal Lived/Living experience perspective to influence the implementation and evaluation of the Mental Health and Wellbeing Act 2022 at Grampian Health. Please put your application in as soon as possible as they will be reviewed as they come in.

Key Responsibilities

  • developing a local service implementation plan with the Sector Implementation Team of the department
  • reviewing existing processes and procedures and developing new processes and procedures where required to ensure compliance with the new Act
  • developing and implementing a local implementation strategy to ensure the clinical and non-clinical workforce, consumers, carers, families, supporters and other stakeholders understand the relevant changes associated with the new Act and the directions of the Sector Implementation Team
  • coordinating access to training and leading local implementation of the learning and development strategy within the health service
  • assisting with the development of local guidelines and other resources for health professionals, consumers, carers and supporters required to support the implementation of the new Act in consultation with the Implementation Forums and other relevant stakeholders such as local lived experience workforce within the health service and broader lived and living experience community
  • working directly with the executive and the lived experience leadership to ensure oversight of the required changes and communicate implementation directives as approved by the department through the Sector Implementation Team

Skills and experience

  • A lived/living experience of mental ill health or psychological distress or a lived/living experience of caring and/or supporting a person who experiences mental ill health or psychological distress
  • Experience working in a designated Lived/Living Experience role 
  • The ability and willingness to share your lived/living experience to ensure a greater understanding of how the act relates to consumer and carers experience
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Victorian Mental Health and Wellbeing Act 2022
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Victorian Government Royal Commission into Mental Health (2019)
  • Tertiary Qualifications such as a tertiary degree in human service and/or Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work and/or Certificate IV in training and assessment or working towards will be highly valued. The worker may be required to obtain this qualification in partnership with GMHWS.
