  • Thinks at the big picture level We are looking for a proactive person to manage a team of high performing people to support the formulation, development of policies and projects relating to salinity and drainage in Victoria to support state objectives.

The Manager Basin Salinity Management will oversee Victoria's implementation and compliance with the Basin Salinity Management 2030, implementation of the Victorian Irrigation Drainage Program, and delivery of other policies and projects relating to water quality and salinity management.

In this role you will maintain strategic partnerships, negotiate project and policy outcomes with regional, interstate and Commonwealth agencies, oversee related research and development projects, and manage regional investment. Strategically influence policy and project development to support the implementation of the Basin Salinity Management 2030 strategy, the Murray-Darling Basin Plan, the Murray Joint Programs and the Victorian Irrigation Drainage Program.

You will also provide considered and comprehensive advice on complex salinity, drainage and water quality policy issues and propose solutions.

Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications

  • Significant experience in the natural resource sector; including management issues (e.g. salinity, water logging, water quality, water use efficiency, water trade, landholder practice change, etc.), stakeholder negotiation, and policy implementation.
  • A tertiary qualification in science, natural resource management or related field.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with hydrology and/or hydrogeology would be desirable.

This is a fixed term position for a period of 12 months.
