Manager, Corporate Strategy

The Department of Jobs, Precincts and Regions (DJPR) was established to ensure Victoria's strong economic performance by growing industries and regions. The department supports a range of diverse portfolios and operates across metropolitan, regional and international offices.

Working closely with the relevant Director within the Corporate Strategy Branch, the Manager will lead and provide direction to a team responsible for driving and delivering a wide range of strategic and operational service improvements across the Corporate Services Group (CSG).

With a strong focus on initiating, managing and delivering high profile, impactful projects and initiatives aimed at enhancing the performance of CSG and the Department, the Manager will be a champion of innovation and continuous improvement.

The manager will provide authoritative analysis, advice, options and recommendations to senior decision makers on matters relating to corporate strategy, policies and processes and ongoing business improvement. The manager will also help transform and modernise how the Group goes about service design and delivery, including through the introduction and use of new systems, approaches and methodologies.

As a senior leader the Manager is expected to model the department's values of accountability, integrity and respect whilst investing in and developing a positive and high performing team culture. 

The key accountabilities of the role will include:

  • Provides authoritative analysis, advice, options and recommendations on complex matters – including identifying impacts and providing outcomes-focussed recommendations.
  • Manages and delivers major projects as part of a broader program of effort to identify, respond to and address new and emerging issues impacting on the operating environment.
  • Participate in strategic planning and contributes to strategic decision-making processes, including delivering high quality, regular reports for senior executives in accordance with relevant business management and reporting systems and processes.
  • Develops and leverages excellent relationships and networks to influence change within and across corporate areas and work collaboratively with stakeholders.
  • Provide leadership for a small team of staff, and supports the Director in providing leadership for the wider Corporate Strategy Branch
