The Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department) is seeking a Manager, Enforcement Review Officer to provide a critical role in the Industry Engagement and Enforcement Operation (IEEO).

 

About us

Forming part of the department's COVID-19 response, the IEEO is responsible for engaging with all Victorian industries and business where there is a high risk of exposure to COVID-19.

The Planning, Policy and Governance Unit within IEEO is responsible for driving policy and planning activities relevant to IEEO's enforcement activities. This includes strategic and operational policy advice, Cabinet and Ministerial briefings, development of policies and procedure and undertaking necessary engagement with IEEO partner agencies and key stakeholders.

The Enforcement Review Office (ERO) within the Planning, Policy and Governance Unit is responsible for assessing non-compliance observed in the field and facilitating the issuing of relevant enforcement notices in response to identified non-compliance with CHO Directions and providing general support to the overarching enforcement capability.

 

About the role

The Manager, Enforcement Review Office leads the team and supports the Director, Enforcement Review Office in these matters, ensuring regulatory compliance and best practice. The Manager, Enforcement Review Office also leads a team in assessing, managing, and delivering enforcement notices in response to alleged breaches of business non-compliance and provide strong leadership across the branch and work effectively with key stakeholders to ensure the branch is operating within regulatory requirements.

Some of your duties will include: 

  • Lead a team in assessing, managing and delivering enforcement notices in response to alleged breaches of business non-compliance under the Public Health and Wellbeing Act 2008.
  • Provide strong leadership across the branch and work effectively with key stakeholders to ensure the branch is operating within regulatory requirements.
  • Drive the delivery of high-quality project outcomes across IEEO to ensure the branch is operating within regulatory requirements.

About you

To be successful you will have:

  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and Chief Health Officer Directions pertaining to the purpose of the IEEO and experience and understanding of administering regulatory frameworks and undertaking associated education and enforcement activities.
  • Experience in leading an operational area (including review and prosecutions of matters) in a regulatory environment and dealing with highly sensitive issues.
  • Highly developed analytical skills with demonstrated experience in the preparation and delivery of reports, briefs, and other materials regarding complex and sensitive matters.
  • Demonstrated ability to make rational and sound decisions based on a consideration of the evidence at hand, whilst complying with governing legislation and other relevant regulatory requirements. Makes sound decisions, sometimes with incomplete information. Makes quick decisions where required and commits to a definite course of action.

 

A relevant tertiary qualification is highly desirable.
