The position of Manager Group Strategic Finance forms a part of the Business and Finance Services Branch within the Agriculture Victoria Group.

The Business and Finance Services branch (the branch) undertakes strategic analysis, provides advice to the Agriculture Victoria Executive, and delivers enabling business and finance services across Agriculture Victoria's metropolitan and regional sites.   The branch manages regional and metropolitan offices, farm and laboratory facilities; site services; the Department's state-wide fleet function; and provides safety advice to businesses across regional and metropolitan sites.  The branch is also responsible for finance and human resource management; business planning, investment and evaluation; Ministerial support services; and oversight of risk and audit.

The Manager Group Strategic Finance provides strategic financial analysis and advice to the Agriculture Victoria Leadership Team, and leads a small team to deliver coordinated budgeting, financial reporting, and asset management across Agriculture Victoria.

The Manager Group Strategic Finance will have a high level of drive and commitment, integrity and resilience and be able to build trust through consistent actions, values and communication. They will be able to translate the detail into strategic advice, work effectively as a member of a team, enjoy flexible working arrangements and promote best practice financial governance across the group

Reporting to the Director, Business and Finance Services, the key accountabilities of the role include:

  • Deliver strategic financial analysis and advice to the Agriculture Victoria Leadership Team through leading and coordinating the Group budgeting, financial reporting, and asset management processes and approach.
  • Promote best practice financial governance across Agriculture Victoria by improving financial literacy, influencing the development and use of appropriate reporting tools, improving asset management through coordinating asset management functions for the group across the asset lifecycle to ensure compliance with the Asset Management Accountability Framework, and identifying performance audit opportunities.
  • Provide expert procurement advice and identify opportunities to achieve improved value for money outcomes for the Group.
  • Ensure Agriculture Victoria receives the information technology support it requires to deliver its current and future business through leading the group's relationship with the Information Management Branch of the Corporate Services Group.
  • Identify risks and opportunities for improvement, streamlining and integration, including identification and adoption of new business process improvements and coordinate the implementation of new corporate systems and procedures.
