POSITION SUMMARY:

The National Partnership on Essential Vaccines is an agreement between the Commonwealth of Australia and the states and territories, which aims ‘to protect the Australian public from the spread of vaccine preventable diseases through the cost-effective and efficient delivery of immunisation programs under the National Immunisation Program.' As part of this agreement, the Commonwealth is responsible for the procurement of vaccines while states and territories are responsible for vaccine distribution and support for immunisation providers. States and territories are also responsible for ensuring high vaccination uptake as set out by specific benchmarks in the agreement, supporting individuals' access to immunisation services and coordinating local monitoring and surveillance of adverse events following immunisation.

Reporting to the Senior Technical Specialist/Senior Manager- Immunisation, the Immunisation Operations & Systems Manager is part of the Immunisation Unit and oversees the Operations & Systems team that is responsible for vaccine logistics and distribution according to the National Immunisation Program and state funded programs, contract management, development and utilisation of technology and systems and analysis of vaccination data to identify and actively manage emerging issues and areas of risk impacting on delivery of immunisation programs.

Mandatory Vaccination Policy

The department is committed to providing and maintaining a working environment which is safe and without risk to the health of its workers and clients.  As it is an essential element of any role within the department that employees be able to attend work onsite and to do so safely, employees are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as a condition of their employment.  This requirement applies unless they have a medical condition which means they cannot be vaccinated against COVID -19.  Therefore, the department will ask any prospective employee, who has been identified as the preferred candidate for a role within the department, to provide proof of their COVID-19 vaccination status prior to any offer of employment being made.  If a prospective employee has a relevant medical condition which means they cannot be vaccinated against COVID-19, they should contact the department to discuss their individual circumstances.
