About us

The Department of Justice and Community Safety (DJCS) delivers a justice and community safety system that works to build a safer, fairer and stronger Victoria.

The Finance, Procurement and Performance business unit leads the department's efforts to ensure it operates within its means to achieve its priorities. It is responsible for the department's financial, budgetary and procurement strategies, policies and processes. The business unit also leads investment and performance analysis – a strengthened accountability agenda.

About the role

As a Manager, Projects and Asset Accounting, you will be responsible for:

  • ensuring compliance with Standing Directions of Minister for Finance, Asset Management Framework and other frameworks in relation to assets, Accounting Standards, Financial Reporting Directions, and any other relevant requirements
  • ensuring DJCS asset accounting policies, procedures and forms are updated and circulated to the relevant stakeholders and users
  • presenting at internal and external forums on asset and project accounting
  • preparing asset disclosures in DJCS's Annual Financial Statements (AFS).

About you

As a Manager, Projects and Asset Accounting, you will possess:

  • extensive financial management experience and a record of delivering the asset accounting function in a large and complex organisation
  • a thorough understanding of public sector financial management, accrual accounting and balance sheet management
  • demonstrated expertise in the evaluation, development and implementation of accounting policies and practices
  • detailed knowledge of the Australian and International Accounting Standards, the Financial Management Act, Regulations and Directions with expert knowledge of the Oracle Financial System and associated reporting tools
  • membership of CPA Australia or the Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand.

In addition to the above, you will possess a tertiary qualification with an Accounting major.
