About us

The Stakeholder Engagement, Intergovernmental Strategy and Inclusion Unit (SEIGIU) within the Service Delivery Reform, Coordination and Workplace Safety Group is a newly amalgamated unit. This unit plays a critical role in building the Department of Justice and Community Safety's (DJCS) capacity to engage with stakeholders and drive an inclusion agenda. The SEIGIU will work to ensure that inclusion and intersectionality are at the heart of the justice reform agenda.

The focus of the unit includes:

  • engaging with the justice and social services sectors to drive and implement the government's reform agenda
  • driving a consistent and co-ordinated approach to stakeholder engagement and fostering co-ownership for reforms
  • driving the justice portfolio's intergovernmental reform agenda
  • leading whole-of-department inclusivity and intersectionality agenda.

The role and functions of the Secretariat and Governance Support team include:

  • providing secretariat support for key governance forums including the Justice Stakeholder Forum, Justice Partnership Committee and its working groups establish department wide partnership protocols to guide relationships with key stakeholders
  • engagement with the justice and social services sectors.

About the role

As the Manager, Secretariat and Governance Support, you will be responsible for:

  • the provision of high-level authoritative secretariat and governance advice and support to the Executive Director, staff of the SEIGIU and other senior stakeholders
  • delivering organisational governance (including projects, risk and integrity oversight) and provide strategic advice and analysis based on robust evidence and organisational awareness
  • driving consistent and coherent engagement and inclusion approach across the department
  • managing relationships with key stakeholders, identifying emerging issues with stakeholders and leading internal and external stakeholder engagement.

The position also ensures efficient and effective secretariat support for the department's primary stakeholder engagement governance forums.

About you

As the Manager, Secretariat and Governance Support, you will possess:

  • strong conceptual and analytical skills with a particular ability to analyse complex policy and program issues, interpret legislation and provide accurate and strategic advice
  • demonstrated capacity to deliver secretariat support to high level planning committees
  • strong experience and knowledge of the governance framework within the Victorian Public Sector
  • sound understanding of project management and associated tools.

Keys to your success will be your highly developed communication, policy and leadership skills including the ability to create effective structures to manage stakeholders.
