The Victorian Multicultural Commission (VMC) has an exciting opportunity for an experienced and highly motivated communications manager to join the team until November 2021. 

The VMC is an independent statutory body constituted under the Multicultural Victoria Act 2011, which sets out the Commission's objectives and functions.

As a conduit between communities and the government, the VMC's role involves identifying and investigating issues faced by culturally diverse communities, advising the Minister for Multicultural Affairs and making recommendations to government on policies, services and legislation. Working in collaboration with communities, the VMC leads strategic partnerships across all sectors to champion diversity, improve support and access to government services.

Working closely with the Chairperson, Deputy Chairperson and Director, the Manager, Strategic Communications and Events provides authoritative strategic advice on a range of matters to support the Commission in achieving its objectives.

With communications expertise and excellent planning and organisational skills, the Manager leads a dynamic team to develop and deliver an innovative program encompassing digital communications, media and issues management, marketing, Cultural Diversity Week, and a year-round program of events.

You will establish effective relationships with key stakeholders, community organisations, sponsors and media to underpin your work and ensure the Commission is well placed to support and advocate for Victoria's multicultural communities.

What can you bring? It goes without saying that your communications skills are excellent, and you combine that with outstanding stakeholder management skills.  We anticipate you will have extensive events management experience. Relevant tertiary qualification is also mandatory.
