About the branch and role
The Workplace Relations and Occupational Safety (WROS) Branch has a deep and unique understanding of the Victorian Public Sector - we are part of the Victorian Public Sector. Our work involves providing advice and conducting litigation in relation to employment and discrimination law, industrial relations, workplace investigations and occupational health and safety matters. We also work closely with specialists in other branches of the VGSO in areas of law such as information sharing, constitutional and public law, criminal law, administrative decision making and transfer of employees.
We are seeking a senior and experienced lawyer to join the VGSO as a Managing Principal Solicitor in our WROS Branch.
This role involves supervising and mentoring our lawyers, while providing high quality legal services to Government and efficiently managing advisory and litigation files. There is also opportunity to be involved in marketing and business development.
About the successful applicant
The ideal applicant will have demonstrated people leadership capability and be eager to supervise, mentor and develop a team of lawyers.
Along with the ability to develop positive existing client relationships and establish new business opportunities, applicants should also be able to demonstrate sound judgement on complex workplace relations legal matters based upon significant experience.
Although not essential, an understanding of the structure and culture of Government would be beneficial.
