Invest Victoria is the Victorian Government's investment promotion agency with a focus on achieving sustained economic prosperity for Victoria by enabling business opportunities and job creation for the State. It sets the investment strategy for the State, attracting and leading Foreign Direct Investment and investment opportunities of state significance through a range of levers including facilitation services.

International Investment Branch

The International Investment Branch leads the attraction and facilitation of foreign direct investment into Victoria. The Branch provides support to Victorian Government Trade and Investment (VGTI) offices and works directly with international companies to promote Victoria as an investment destination and provides facilitation support to secure investment projects.

About the role

Reporting to the Director, Investment – Asia & MENA, this Ongoing VPS6.2 role is responsible for:

• Attracting and leading Foreign Direct Investment opportunities into Victoria from North Asia
• Engaging and building relationships with international companies seeking to invest in Victoria/Australia.
• Negotiating financial incentives to attract investment to Victoria and the subsequent administration of these agreements.
• Support international VGTI offices to develop and implement international investment attraction strategies that seek to secure investment and jobs into Victoria.
• Contribute to international lead generation activities and work with VGTI offices to proactively identify international investment targets
• Provide high level advice, analysis and solutions to executives, Ministers and Cabinet, related to investment opportunities from international markets.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

• Experience in economic development and project management. Experience working with prospective investors seeking to enter a new market would be well regarded.
• Demonstrated understanding of Victoria's value proposition as a location for international business investment and how business make investment location decisions.
• Ability to communicate a comprehensive understanding of global business trends and key business opportunities to persuade international businesses, particularly from North Asia, to invest in a new market.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including confidence in presenting to internal and external stakeholders.
• Experience in structuring commercial deals and negotiating complex contracts. Project management experience in assisting business implement investments/enter new markets would be well regarded.
• Strong stakeholder management skills and ability to work across teams.
