The Portable Long Service Authority is an independent statutory body established to administer the Long Service Benefits Portability Act 2018.  The Act, together with the Long Service Benefits Portability Regulations 2020 provide a Portable Long Service Benefits Scheme. 

The Portable Long Service Benefits Scheme began on 1 July 2019 to ensure eligible workers in the community services, contract cleaning and security industries can build up long service benefits based on time in their industry, rather than with a single employer.

About the role

The Media and Communications Adviser plays a key role in supporting the delivery of the Portable Long Service Authority communications and engagement initiatives.

Reporting to the Communications and Engagement Manager and working closely with the Digital Communications Officer, this role will provide expert writing and editing skills for a range of internal and external strategic communications and will source and deliver successful media announcements and events while effectively identifying and mitigating reputational issues and risks.

As part of the Corporate Governance, Communications and Education Division, the Digital Communications Adviser is responsible for proactively driving the development of high-level and engaging content for media and digital channels.

The role also actively participates in a broad range of communication tasks, events and activities to support the delivery of the Division's work. Some ad hoc after-hours work may be required.

About you

As the Media and Communications Adviser, you will possess:

• Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills with demonstrated experience engaging with a range of internal and external stakeholders and ability to understand their priorities and interests.
• Proven media, communications or public relations experience with ability to proactively identify and produce strategies and compelling content.
• Excellent writing, editing and oral presentation skills with attention to detail, the ability to prepare high quality communication materials on complex issues and is confident presenting to different audiences.
• Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritise competing demands and deadlines, with an ability to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities.
• Ability to work well with others in the pursuit of team goals; collaborate and share information, knowledge and experience; show consideration, concern and respect for others' contributions and ideas.
