The Service consists of the following areas: Departments of Nephrology, General Medicine, Emergency, Intensive Care, Endocrinology, Dermatology, Clinical Pharmacology & Toxicology, Infectious Diseases, Infection Control, Rheumatology, Respiratory Medicine, Paediatric Medicine, Diabetes Education and Podiatry.

The Medical Division is currently offering the below exciting opportunities:

  • Paediatrics- Ward 2 West
  • Austin Campus
  • Permanent Full time and Part-time hours available- 82hrs/per week

The Paediatric ward (2 West) is a 16-bed general paediatric unit. The 16 beds are utilised by the following specialties: Paediatric Medicine, Epilepsy, Plastics, Ear Nose and Throat, and Orthopaedics. The ward admits from birth to 18 years of age. The Paediatric ward offers specialist Paediatric programs for Eating Disorders, Diabetes and Epilepsy.

  • General Medical- Ward 7East 
  • Austin Campus 
  • Permanent Full time and Part-time hours available- 120hrs/per week 

Ward 7 East is primarily a 32 bed Acute General Medical Ward belonging to the Division of Medical Services.  Ward 7E is currently operating as 22 beds General Medical and 10 beds COVID specific beds. Primary patient flow comes from the Emergency Department and direct admissions under the guidance of the Infectious Diseases Consultants.

About the role:

As an Austin Health Nurse you will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of evidence-based nursing care in designated medical specialties, in order to optimize health outcomes for the community.

Key responsibilities will see you:

  • Support a philosophy of care, which is patient focused, from admission to discharge, and where the family is welcome in the carers team
  • Ensure the well-being and safety of patients by following the values and principles, which underpin best practice in relation to patient care, education and patient rights
  • Achieve and maintain the skills necessary, through personal professional development, to plan, prioritize and implement holistic patient care
