The Monash Health Pathology Service operates under the brand name of Monash Pathology and is an integral part of Monash Health. It is one of the largest providers of Pathology services in the state and currently operates 5 laboratories. The largest of these is located at the Monash Medical Centre, Clayton, with additional facilities being located at the Dandenong, Moorabbin, Casey and Wonthaggi Hospitals. 

 

Services are provided to the Public and Private sectors, and other laboratory services


 

About the Role

 

Monash Pathology (Monash Health) has a position available for an experienced Medical Scientist to join our Cytology team located at Monash Medical Centre. This is a Part Time Permanent position.

 

What You Need to Know

 

The successful applicant will have:



  • Bachelor of Applied Science with a major in Cytology.

  • ASC or IAC certificate - an advantage



At least 7 years of experience with:



  • Thorough knowledge of cytology preparation techniques, both conventional and liquid based (ThinPrep).

  • Routine screening experience of Non-Gynaecological specimens (an average of 80 slides per day) Urinary tract, Respiratory, Fluids and FNAs.

  • Attending FNA’s in endoscopy, ultrasound and CT, to provide rapid onsite evaluation – an advantage





  • Clear concise, verbal and written communication skills.

  • To participate in staff rotations, overtime and on call & out of hours rosters as directed

  • Works effectively and harmoniously within the Department team

  • Ability to solve problems, or seek help from appropriate resources.

  • A commitment to personal ongoing education and professional development
