The Monash Pathology Service operates under the brand name of Monash Pathology and is an integral part of Monash Health. It is one of the largest providers of Pathology Services in the state and currently operates five laboratories with the main laboratory located at the Monash Medical Centre, Clayton and additional ones at Dandenong, Moorabbin, Casey and Wonthaggi Hospitals. Monash Pathology offers a comprehensive range of tests and the services are provided to the public and private sectors, and other laboratories.

About the Role

Monash Pathology (Monash Health) has a position available for an experienced Medical Scientist to take control of a major designated section of the Anatomical Pathology (Histopathology and Mortuary), with responsibility for the distribution of work and staff within the section, the efficient and accurate performance of tests within the section and the guidance, training and education of staff within the section. The appointee is expected to show leadership and a high level of professional competence.

This position is being offered on a full-time ongoing basis working 80 hours a fortnight with an ADO.

What You Need to Know:

The successful candidate will have:

  • Bachelor of Applied Science or equivalent. Possession of appropriate postgraduate qualifications is desirable.

  • Recognised specialist training and competence relevant to the position including appropriate knowledge and experience in laboratory services, quality systems, information technology and relevant analytical methods and techniques related to Histology and Mortuary

  • Experience in staff training and competency documentation

  • Clear concise, verbal and written communication skills

  • Proven ability to work cooperatively with pathologists, clinicians, senior scientists and researchers

  • Commitment to professional development and education
