An exciting opportunity currently exists for an enthusiastic Mental Health Clinician/ Group Work Facilitator to join our Adolescent Inpatient Unit. This is full time, permanent position with scope for weekend work.
This role provides a therapeutic group program to a small and varied caseload of adolescent consumers on the Adolescent Inpatient Unit (AIPU). The clinician will be required to facilitate engagement in a group program as well provide assessment, and treatment (at individual and group levels),to adolescents and their families/carers in order to facilitate safe and effective discharge from the unit.

The Adolescent Inpatient Unit at Austin Health is a small inpatient unit that works closely with young people and their carers to achieve positive outcomes in all areas of functioning. We have 11 bedsand are based at the Austin Hospital in Heidelberg. Adolescents who have turned 13 (but are not yet 18 years of age) are admitted for mental health assessment and treatment when their presentation presents high levels of risk, or when a more specialised service is required for assessment and treatment. These young people may be experiencing significant acute and complex emotional, behavioural and/or social difficulties and have usually had some outpatient treatment. The team is also supported by Austin School teaching staff who work to keep young people connected to their home schools or to help them reconnect to appropriate education pathways.
