What You Will Be Doing

Peninsula Health Mental Health Service is committed to the principles of Recovery- Orientated Practice. We actively support and encourage consumer and carer participation in all aspects of planning and delivery of mental health services.

The Hospital Outreach Post-suicide Engagement (HOPE) initiative (previously called Access, Planning and Suicide Prevention- APSP) provides support for people who have either attempted suicide or been identified as at-risk of suicide.

The Mental Health Clinician (RPN Gr4, AH equivalent) provides support and structured engagement with clients for a period of up to three months in conjunction with colleagues in a multi-disciplinary setting. You will undertake mental state, social and physical assessments, provide recommendations for treatment and prepare safety care plans. Additionally you will provide counselling and therapy to clients with specific focus on suicide prevention therapy modalities.

What You Need

• Qualified Nurse, Social Worker, OT or Clinical Psychologist with relevant registration
• Extensive experience in the mental health field including acute in-patient services and/or community mental health care.
• Experiencing working with clients with a major mental illness including assessment, crisis intervention, and counselling and psychosocial rehabilitation.
• Working knowledge of discipline specific legislation relevant to clinical practice and understanding of state and national Mental Health standards
