Peer Support Worker

  • Full Time Position | 80 hours per week | Mon -Fri 

  • Based at our Noogal Mental Health Clinic in Mill Park

This position requires a clear and readily articulated understanding of the values and practices of the consumer movement in mental health, which seek to be inclusive and respectful of consumers' views and honor the "lived experience" of consumers.


Your new role:

  • Assist consumers to identify their support needs and focus on their personal recovery;

  • Relate with consumers from the basis of lived expertise, sharing skills and learnings as appropriate, in a way that brings hope, supports and empowers consumers to move forward in their recovery;

  • Provide Support and information provision in an accessible and timely manner about rights, responsibilities and recovery opportunities

About you:

  • Lived xperience of mental health and treatment within a mental health service

  • Ability to draw on your own lived experience in working alongside consumers

  • Awareness of, and commitment to, your wellbeing and self-care as it relates to your work

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Empathetic and compassionate approach

  • Understanding of peer support and recovery principles
