Applications are invited for participation in our Postgraduate Midwifery Studies Program at BRHS in 2021.  We are seeking Registered Nurses with at least 2 years nursing experience who are passionate about pursuing their career as a midwife.

The Program:

Our Postgraduate Nurse Studies program will support you in developing a comprehensive theoretical specialist knowledge base in midwifery as you both study and work in this field.  You will receive mentoring by our highly skilled clinical educators in our supportive learning environment as well as exposure to a broad range of situations enabling your skills and knowledge to grow significantly.  Roles are contracted to a minimum of 0.6 eft to allow a balance between your study and work.

The Department:

Our Rotamah ward is a 17 bed unit which provides care for medical, palliative, paediatric and midwifery clients.  It also manages maternity outpatients and community based services and consists of two birthing suites and an ante-natal assessment room.  Funding for a new family birthing centre was received in 2019 with planning currently occurring.  BRHS is an accredited Baby Friendly facility demonstrating our commitment to evidence-based, best-practice and providing the highest standard of maternity care to mothers and babies. 

What you need:

To perform this role you need to be a Registered Nurse, have completed a Nurse Graduate Program and have a minimum of 2 years recent nursing experience.  It is preferred that you have some recent clinical experience in your chosen area however this is not mandatory.  It is essential however, that you have a commitment to learning and education with the ability to manage study/work balance and apply new knowledge in a safe and effective manner.
