Monash Children’s Hospital is one of Australia’s leading providers of integrated children’s health services, with more than 30 specialist services and programs. We have Victoria’s largest Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and provide leading paediatric services in many areas including Diabetes & Endocrinology, Rehabilitation, Oncology and Eating Disorders.

The Music Therapy service is integrated across Monash Health, providing clinical services in paediatric and adult inpatient, mental health and community services, operating across Monash Medical Centre, Monash Children's Hospital, Dandenong and Casey Hospitals and the Kingston Centre. We form part of a dynamic allied health team and are committed to a patient centred, evidence based practice and supporting staff to continue their career development and lifelong learning.

This exciting new Grade 3, 0.6EFT position (part-time fixed term until March 2024) is available to Senior Music Therapy clinicians and is based at Monash Children's Hospital. Ongoing supervision and professional development opportunities are provided.

A Day in the Life:

We know the importance of Music Therapy and how it contributes positively to our patients’ lives. We love what we do and now we are seeking a talented Senior Music Therapist to work in a Grade 3 capacity with us in Monash Children’s Hospital.

What an exciting opportunity to expand your clinical and leadership skills in this role. This role can afford an aspiring Grade 2 clinician to transition to Grade 3. We will offer you guidance and support in your transition.

In this respected, senior position you will work collaboratively with a dynamic group of people who are inclusive, passionate and share a vision to provide excellent, evidence-based care for patients and their families.

  • Your dedication to safe best practice and quality
  • Enthusiasm and a positive attitude to your work as a Music Therapist

  • Motivation and accountability for the management of specific portfolios in our relentless pursuit of excellence
  • Strong leadership skills in people management, conflict resolution and building and motivating teams
  • Demonstrated experience in the leadership, evaluation and implementation of quality improvement or research activities
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, a strong team focus and an innovative approach

 What you need:

  • Undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Music Therapy from an approved training course
  • Eligible for current membership and registration with the Australian Music Therapy Association (AMTA) Inc.
  • Current ARIA Music Therapist Copyright & Reproduction licence
