Unique opportunity to join our Independent Mental Health Advocacy team in the position of lived experience consultant, contributing to the development, delivery and evaluation of our National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) Self Advocacy Project.

  • Part time (0.2FTE) maximum term position up to 12 months
  • Salary commensurate with experience, range: $71,997 - $93,169 (pro rata) plus superannuation

About the role:
In this role you will contribute to the development, delivery and evaluation of our National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) Self Advocacy Project. You will follow a ‘train the trainer' model to deliver support, training and relevant materials to NDIS service providers, ensuring that the perspective of people with lived experience of the scheme is heard.

You will work closely with the Project Coordinator, and facilitate the involvement of people with lived experience throughout the project, co-facilitate NDIS Self Advocacy training sessions for service providers, and contribute to the development of training resources.

About you:
You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to employ these to build effective working relationships with a range of key stakeholders. You have the demonstrated ability to facilitate training and discussions in a safe and accessible way, and are responsive to the diverse needs and backgrounds of the people you engage with.

Essential to your success in the role is your knowledge and lived experience of the NDIS Psychosocial Disability Stream, and desire to employ your perspective to improve outcomes for existing and prospective participants of the scheme.
