About the Role
Applications are sought for a 6 or12 month Senior HMO (Neonatal) position. Commencing in February 2024 or August 2024 at Joan Kirner Newborn Services at Sunshine Hospital.
The positions comprise the following training opportunities within the Newborn Services Unit:
• Enhance skills in acute management of neonatal patients in both the delivery room setting, operating theatre and within the Special Care and Neonatal Intensive Care Nurseries.
• Develop knowledge of common newborn clinical presentations – both acute and non-acute.
• Develop procedural skills in relation to the intensive care management of newborn infants.
• Develop skills in relation to the support of preterm newborn infants.
• Participate in unit educational and quality activities.
These positions are most suited to applicants who plan a career in paediatrics.
Eligibility Criteria
PGY 2 or above at time of application.
Minimum 6 months prior paediatric experience.
The selection process for these positions is highly competitive. The positions are awarded on the basis of CV, references and interview. Shortlisting for interview is based on CV and referee report, so it is important that applicants highlight on their CV all relevant clinical experience, courses, academic awards/honours, research experience and other hospital involvement.
Newborn Services at Joan Kirner - Sunshine Hospital aims for excellence in neonatal paediatric training, and the successful applicant(s) for the Senior HMO (Neonatal) can expect:
• Well supervised clinical training in neonatology.
