About the Role:



  • This position is responsible for the day to day running of, planning, coordinating, organisation and implementation of Nuclear Medicine and PET services at Moorabbin Hospital Monash Health.

  • The position will ensure we maintain and expand on the high quality PET and Nuclear Medicine service by providing regular educational and ongoing quality improvement initiatives and programs.

  • This role will manage the necessary administrative tasks for the effective operation of Monash Health PET and Nuclear Medicine services at Moorabbin Hospital.

  • The successful candidate will oversee the research component of PET at Monash Health.

  • This position will work closely with the Chief Nuclear Medicine Technologist and the Nuclear Medicine Sub Speciality Head.

  • The person taking on this role must be highly motivated and want to help forward PET and Nuclear Medicine at Monash Health.


ABOUT IMAGING AT MONASH HEALTH


Imaging at Monash Health incorporates a full range of services including CT, US, MRI, DEXA, PET, Nuclear Medicine, X-Ray, Lithotripsy, OPG, Mammography, Fluoroscopy and Interventional and Therapeutic imaging services at the Monash Medical Centre - Clayton; Monash Children’s Hospital, Clayton; Dandenong Hospital, Dandenong; Casey Hospital, Berwick; Moorabbin Hospital, Bentleigh East, Kingston Centre, Cheltenham and the Pakenham Health Centre, Pakenham. Imaging also supports the Monash University Biomedical Imaging site including MRI and PET MRI. The service provides over 365,000 imaging examinations per year across all sites, currently employs approximately 500 EFT and has a gross operating budget in excess of $100M. The Imaging program clearly defines its mission as the delivery of leading edge, evidence-based diagnostic and therapeutic imaging services and research and education that meets the needs of our community and employees. Our proposed vision is to relentlessly pursue excellence and be a beacon within imaging and be the prime provider and destination of choice for our community, referrers, researchers, educational institutions, employees and students.


ABOUT NUCLEAR MEDICINE


Nuclear Medicine is a multi-site service. It is currently operating at Monash Medical Centre, Moorabbin Hospital, Casey Hospital, Dandenong Hospital and we staff PET/MR at MBI research Facility at Monash University.



  • Monash Medical Centre, Clayton has three Gamma Cameras – including a dedicated cardiac system, a dual head multi-purpose system and a hybrid SPECT/CT system, as well as both “hot” and “cold” laboratories and a dedicated Iodine therapy room.

  • Moorabbin Hospital has one Gamma Camera – a hybrid SPECT/CT system, two PET/CT systems and a Radiopharmacy lab.

  • Casey Hospital has a hybrid SPECT/CT system. 

  • Dandenong Hospital has a hybrid SPECT/CT system.  

  • MBI operates a research PET/MRI scanner.


At Monash Health we perform on average 7,000 Nuclear Medicine studies and 5,000 PET studies a year.


Qualifications/ Registrations/ Licences:



  • Completion of an approved tertiary diploma or degree or graduate diploma course in Nuclear Medicine Technology (or equivalent)

  • Registered to practice in Victoria- Medical Radiation Practitioners Board (MRPB)

  • Holder of Victorian Department of Human Services “Use Licence” – as per Radiation Act 2015

  • Accredited (or eligible for accreditation) with Australian and New Zealand Society of Nuclear Medicine (ANZSNM)

  • Experience working in a busy PET department, managing staff, fostering growth of self and other technologist staff.

  • Strong CPD ethic e.g. Regular attendance at relevant post-graduate seminars (desired)

  • Post Graduate Research, Publishing or Qualification (desired)

  • Be well read in the appropriate texts and journals (desired)


LOCATION


This role will be based at Moorabbin Hospital in East Bentleigh, but may occasionally require travel to other Monash Imaging sites.


Parking is available on site.
