  • Intern training position encompassing a six month placement at Barwon Health and a six month placement at Ballarat Health Services. Each site will employ one each.

  • Services the intern will be participating in include; PET/CT, SPECT/CT, Radiopharmacy, DEXA and paediatric studies.

  • This position is only available for those enrolled in the Victorian Internship Program and with the PMCV Matching Program.

  • Ongoing training and professional development in a supported environment.


About the facility 


The Nuclear Medicine and PET/CT Department at Barwon Health undertakes a diverse range of studies within a public health setting. The PET/CT department is a custom built facility housing a Siemens mCT scanner, a Gallium Radiopharmacy and 4 patient uptake rooms. Our Nuclear Medicine department comprises of a GE 670 Discovery SPECT/CT and a GE 870 DR SPECT/CT scanner. The department has a fully equipped radiopharmacy laboratory, where we perform reconstitution, dispensing and quality control of radiopharmaceuticals. Further studies including therapies, blood labels and cold laboratory procedures are also performed.


Ballarat Health Services perform a wide range of examinations including cardiac, bone, V/Q, lymphoscintigraphy, GIT and endocrine studies. A limited range of cold laboratory procedures, therapies, diagnostic CT and paediatric studies are performed. DEXA scanning is also performed by Nuclear Medicine staff. Located within the Radiology Department the Nuclear Medicine service utilises a Siemens Symbia T16 SPECT/CT with IQ SPECT and an Intevo T6 with X-SPECT.


About the role 


Barwon Health and Ballarat Health Services are seeking a professional and dedicated individual to join their Nuclear Medicine team. The intern role provides the opportunity to develop the relevant clinical skills required to be a qualified Nuclear Medicine Technologist.


The Intern Nuclear Medicine Technologist will participate in the areas of; General Nuclear Medicine, PET/CT, Radiopharmacy and DEXA, within a supervised environment.
