The Health Service

Wimmera Health Care Group has an average of16,000 ED attendances, 12,500 admissions and 4,600 operations annually. We have a modern theatre complex, including a day procedure unit, a five-bed intensive care unit, and acute and subacute wards all set within a picturesque garden setting.

The Position

We are seeking a suitably qualified Registered Nurse to join our professional team to provide operational leadership and management of the Operating Suite services. This permanent full timeposition is available for an immediate start for the right person dependent on skills, qualifications and includes working Monday to Friday. This is an opportunity to provide leadership within the peri-operative environment which includes the operating theatres, Post Anaesthetic Care Unit, CSSD, Day Procedure Unit and Pre Admission Clinic. This position involves responsibilities for planning and development of processes to manage the peri-operative service, including unit budget, business planning, activity targets, team rostering and professional development.

Key Selection Criteria include


  • Registered Nurse with current AHPRA registration

  • Post graduate qualifications in perioperative nursing

  • Minimum of five years post-graduate experience in one or more of the clinical areas of responsibility including senior nursing leadership experience

  • Demonstrated management experience in a health care setting

  • Demonstrated knowledge of contemporary nursing theory to practice in relation to perioperative nursing

  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of quality systems including National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards and ACORN Standards for perioperative Nursing

  • Ability to implement management principles and cost effective resource management

  • Demonstrated capacity to provide leadership within a team

  • Evidence of commitment to innovation and continuous improvement and the delivery of a high standard of patient centred care

  • Well-developed negotiation, performance management, mediation and conflict resolution skills

  • Demonstrated understanding of contemporary professional nursing issues

  • Proficient in the use of information technology


  • Tertiary qualifications in health/business management or working towards
