Permanent Full Time
(80 hrs per fortnight) with ADO




This Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) position is recognised as a key management / leadership position within the organisation and is central to the fulfilment of the Sub-Acute Unit Model of Care. The successful applicant will provide day-to-day operational leadership and management to a high standard of clinical and professional care. The NUM will be empowered to deliver high quality, person centred nursing care to our rehab patients. The Sub Acute Rehabilitation Unit is a supportive environment that boasts new, modern facilities including an in-house gym, single rooms and is a 20 bed facility with 10 GEM beds, 6 Rehabilitation and 4 Transition Care Program (TCP). This is an opportunity to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team of dietitians, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, speech pathologists and social workers to deliver the best health outcomes for our patients. This position will be available in early January, 2021.




Key Selection Criteria include:



Essential:




  • Registered Nurse with current AHPRA registration

  • Minimum of three years post-graduate experience in clinical rehabilitation nursing including senior nursing experience

  • Demonstrated management experience in a health care setting

  • Demonstrated knowledge of contemporary nursing theory and practice in relation to the care of Sub-Acute patients

  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of quality systems and Health Services accreditations

  • Ability to implement management principles and cost-effective resource management to a multidisciplinary team

  • Demonstrated capacity to provide leadership within a team

  • Evidence of commitment to continuous improvement and the delivery of a high standard of patient centred care

  • Well-developed negotiation, performance management, mediation and conflict resolution skills

  • Demonstrated understanding of contemporary professional nursing issues

  • Proficient in the use of information technology



Desirable:




  • Post graduate qualifications in a relevant nursing specialty

  • Tertiary qualifications in health/business management or working towards same
