The Unit


The Sub Acute Rehabilitation Unit is a new, modern 20 bed facility with 10 GEM beds, 6 Rehabilitation and 4 Transition Care Program (TCP) including a rehabilitation gym and single rooms.



The Position


This Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) position, available in early January 2021, is a key management / leadership position that provides direction and day-to-day operational support for our Sub Acute Rehabilitation Unit. The NUM will facilitate the delivery of high quality, person centred care to our rehab patients from the Wyuna nursing team in collaboration with the broader multidisciplinary team of Allied Health and Medical Professionals.



Key Selection Criteria include:



Essential:



  • Registered Nurse with current AHPRA registration

  • Minimum of three years post-graduate experience in clinical rehabilitation nursing including senior nursing experience

  • Demonstrated management experience in a health care setting

  • Demonstrated knowledge of contemporary nursing theory and practice in relation to the care of Sub-Acute patients

  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of quality systems and Health Services accreditations

  • Ability to implement management principles and cost-effective resource management to a multidisciplinary team

  • Demonstrated capacity to provide leadership within a team

  • Evidence of commitment to continuous improvement and the delivery of a high standard of patient centred care

  • Well-developed negotiation, performance management, mediation and conflict resolution skills

  • Demonstrated understanding of contemporary professional nursing issues

  • Proficient in the use of information technology


Desirable:



  • Post graduate qualifications in a relevant nursing specialty

  • Tertiary qualifications in health/business management or working towards same
