About Breast Services at Monash Health


Monash Breast Services provides a full range of care for all types of breast disease. Assessment of symptoms, diagnosis and management of breast cancer and pre-cancerous disease is the focus of the service as well as being actively involved in many research programs. Monash Breast Services provides a coordinated service from point of diagnosis to post treatment and follow-up with the patients GP. The service is a multidisciplinary approach to provide high quality, integrated service to breast cancer patients.


We now have an excellent opportunity foran experienced Nurse Manager, or a talented Associate Nurse Manager looking to take the next step in their career.  This is a permanent position, working full time (Monday-Friday) at Moorabbin Hospital.

You have been developing your management and leadership skills or you are an accomplished Nurse Manager or Associate Nurse Manager; either way, you are ready to take this next step in your career. About the role


AsNurse Manager (NM) you will work closely with the Director Clinical Operaionts (DCO) Breast Servicesprovide leadership, mentorship, support and direction to your team, supporting them to achieve both  strategic and operational goals for the Breast Care service across Monash Health, now and in the future.  This is a genuine opportunity to demonsrate your leadership skills and play a key role in the further development of Monash Breast Services.



Some of your specific responsibilities will be:



  • Leading staff huddles at the beginning of each day

  • Providing support and being the point of escalation for nursing and administrative team members

  • Rostering and managing an operational budget

  • Evaluating Nursing roles and responsibilities to ensure we apply our resources wisely to optimise high quality service provision

  • Ensuring optimal patient outcomes

  • Managing and delegating the daily operational service demand to the relevant direct reports

  • Understanding and forming key relationships with other key stakeholders in the service, internal and external

  • Collating activity and resource utilisation to plan for future service provision

  • Participating in providing business plan proposals for the consideration of new projects and positions


You'll also act in the DCO role when needed (leave coverage, etc) to cover operational management of the service including BreastScreen.
