About our Cardiothoracic & Respiratory Services at Monash Health

The Victorian Heart Hospital (VHH) will be Australia’s first dedicated heart hospital. The VHH will be an iconic structure facilitating the delivery of evidence based, patient centric, holistic models of care, ground breaking research and committed to leading education underpinned by an unwavering culture and passion for clinical excellence. The VHH is planned to open in 2021, this new hospital provides an exciting opportunity to develop a unique patient centred model of care.

Cardiothoracic services at Monash Health are provided by the Cardiothoracic Unit, led by Professor Julian Smith. The Unit operates on over 600 patients per year across the public and private sector making it one of the state’s busiest services. Respiratory Medicine, led By Dr Phil Bardin provide care to over 1000 inpatients per year

About The Role

Reporting to the Director of Clinical Operations, the Nurse Manager (NM) is a leadership role responsible for the clinical and operational outcomes and the management of staff including workforce management and strategy.  The NM will also proactively contribute to our guiding principles as we are relentless in our pursuit of excellence. With exceptional communication and proven people management skills, the NM will lead by example and inspire their team to perform at their best whilst working collaboratively and in partnership with all key stakeholders.  The NM will also manage all financial resources as well as deliver service improvements and innovations for the Cardiothoracic Services which consists of the . Cardiothoracic/Respiratory & Cardiac Day Wards

This is an ongoing full–time role working Monday to Friday.

About You

You have a genuine passion for Cardiothoracic & Respiratory Services and are an accomplished leader in this field. You are a high achiever with proven ability to deliver successful outcomes across service delivery, resource management, and professional and technical competence areas. You communicate clearly and effectively, are able to build rapport and engage with others at all levels to deliver outcomes in a timely manner.

You Also Have:

  • demonstrated management & clinical leadership experience, ideally in a similar role

  • a high level of proficiency with a range of technology solutions

  • proven time management, superior communication & influencing skills

  • critical thinking, analytical & problem solving skills

  • genuine thirst for learning & open to further study

  • a commitment to proactively support colleagues at all levels as well as mentor a team

  • an advocate of Monash Health’s Strategic Guiding Principles

What You Need:

  • Management & Clinical Leadership in Cardiothoracic Services is highly preferred

  • A relevant Post Graduate Qualification

  • Proven demonstrated Nursing experience

  • Relevant qualifications

  • Current AHPRA registration

  • Current Working with Children’s Check

  • a commitment to advocate Monash Health’s Strategic Guiding Principles
