Nurse Practitioner - Flynn


An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and suitably qualified Nurse Practitioner to join the Flynn Unit at Latrobe Regional Hospital.


Reporting to the Flynn Manager the successful applicant will be proficent in the following



  • Lead clinical practice that is safe, high quality, promotes access to care and demonstrates exceptional clinical nursing leadership

  • Recommended medication prescribing, diagnostics, referral to practitioners, sick certificates and admission/discharge within the endorsed scope of practice as an NPC

  • Ensure the inclusion of evidence based nursing interventions within the Recovery Model

  • Family and Carer collaboration, liaison, support and education

  • Physical health screening and management within the nursing framework

  • Management and treatment of AOD issues

  • Provision of psychological and social interventions

  • Ensure communication with all members of the health team in planning, delivery and evaluation of care by encouraging the multidisciplinary team approach.

  • Demonstrate open and transparent communication between all staff, consumers and carers.

  • Ensure service provision is provided in a helpful, sensitive way to those most in need, and based on clinical priority and eligibility.

  • Ensure the service actively communicates rights and responsibilities to all consumers.

  • Assist in the development and promotion of strategies enabling collaboration between programs and services

  • Foster and model an understanding of culturally and linguistically diverse communities.

  • Responsible for the delivery of advanced practice in mental health nursing, demonstrating both population and individual health, early intervention and prevention

  • Demonstrates expert knowledge in mental health nursing, complex decision making ability and the clinical competencies for advanced practice
