About the role

The Psychiatric Assessment Planning Unit (PAPU) is located adjacent to Maroondah Hospital Emergency department. It is a 4 bed acute Psychiatric and Medical unit which provides 24-hour short term (up to 72 hours) bed-based assessment, planning and treatment to consumers presenting with a mental illness and possibly at time other co-morbid medical conditions. The Nurse Unit
Manager (NUM) is responsible to lead the clinical team to ensure the effective coordination and efficient management of PAPU. This is a position of clinical leadership and operational accountability that aligns with Eastern Health’s Clinical Governance and operational management structures. This role is responsible to ensure patient care is provided in accordance with Eastern Health standards and guidelines, and that patient safety is maximised.

About you 

To be successful in this role you will possess:

  • Manager to list Key Selection Criteria

  • Current nursing registration with AHPRA 

  • Post Graduate qualifications in mental health

  • Highly developed interpersonal and leadership experience

  • A strong commitment to high quality care

  • The ability to work as part of a diverse team

  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
