About the facility 


The Gretta Volum Centre is a freestanding day surgery unit within University Hospital, Geelong.


It has two operating theatres and one endoscopy procedure room. Services are provided for patients undergoing a broad range of surgical, diagnostic procedures, intravenous therapy, abdominal paracentesis, and CVC line insertions.


Specialties include Paediatric Surgery, Ophthalmology, General Surgery, ECT, Gynaecology, Plastic Surgery, Urology, Lithotripsy, ENT, Endoscopy, Pain Management, IVF treatment, Cardio version and Dental. We also provide admission and discharge services for patients undergoing surgery in main theatre and procedures in medical imaging. Ward procedures performed in recovery include infusions – Intragam, Infliximab, Magnesium, Lignocaine, Iron, Abatecept, Tysabri, Blood transfusions, Allergy testing and Abdominal Paracentesis. Other procedures performed include CVC line insertion, lumbar punctures and testosterone implants.


About the role 


Reporting to the Operating Services Manager the role of Nurse Unit Manager, Gretta Volum Day Procedure Centre you will take on a leadership role in operational and strategic issues. You will possess sound communication skills, good time management skills and be well organised in your work practice. You will be skilled at setting clear expectations and be accountable for outcomes and have demonstrated experience in innovation and change management.


You must be a Registered Nurse with Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency. A health related post graduate qualifications will be highly regarded. You must have a significant level of nursing skill and proven commitment to flexibility and innovation in practice.  You will have a demonstrated ongoing commitment to professional development.
