About the facility 


Blakiston Lodge Oak is a 45 bed specialised aged care, mental health unit. The residents who live at Oak have a diagnosed mental health condition and can present with challenging behaviours. Residents are referred who cannot be looked after in the general aged care system due to their level of cognitive, emotional or behavioural disturbance. The goal is to improve the resident's condition so that they can be transferred to a less restrictive and more appropriate accommodation. Blakiston Lodge Oak is dedicated to caring for people with mental illness and offers a safe and secure environment and quality nursing, medical and psychiatric support for residents.


About the role 


We are seeking a full-time Nurse Unit Manager to undertake this complex and rewarding role. The successful applicant will be a passionate leader with qualifications in Mental Health and experience in aged care.


As the Nurse Unit Manager you will provide leadership in the planning and delivery of a high quality service within Barwon Health’s Medical Service whilst developing a professional and collaborative partnership in the overall management of Barwon Health.


Duties of you role will include, but are not limited to:



  • Monitoring the clinical and financial performance of the service to ensure alignment with departmental and Barwon Health’s operational requirements in conjunction with the Facility Manager.

  • Ensures delegations have a set time frame, are evaluated with a follow up strategy and feedback is provided to the delegate.

  • Develops and maintain positive working relationships with members of Barwon Health by promoting agreed standards of professional conduct whilst working within Barwon Health.
