About the role

The primary purpose of this position is to provide the overall management and supervision of staff in the Aged Care Services facility of Grampians Health - Edenhope that is comprised of 40 Residential Aged Care Beds. The role is to ensure evidence-based care is provided to all residents / patients. The Nurse Unit Manager for Aged Care services will be responsible for the supervision and delegation of tasks to the Associate Nurse Unit Managers. The NUM for Aged Care Services will also provide direct supervision of other Registered Nurses and Enrolled Nurses on a daily basis. They will be actively engaged and promote quality improvement activities amongst their staff and within the organisation to improve patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Overall management of the Aged Care Services comprised of 40 residential aged care beds.
  • Deliver quality nursing care to patients as appropriate and actively promote the quality principles.
  • Maintain and develop knowledge and skills at an advanced level.
  • Direct nursing care given by other personnel to ensure adherence to nursing care plans.
  • Assume a clinical co-ordinating role within the facility.
  • Ensure all nursing and non-nursing practices are consistent with established policies and protocols.

Skills and experience

Qualifications

  • Registered in the category of Registered Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and AHPRA.
  • Possession of a postgraduate qualification relevant to Clinical Nursing, Clinical Education and/or other postgraduate certificates in Nursing; Emergency, Critical Care, Management.
  • Knowledge and experience on the use of Aged Care Funding Instrument or ACFI.

Technical/Professional Knowledge and Skills

  • Demonstrated advanced clinical knowledge and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated advanced skills in: clinical planning, coordination and decision making.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement and evaluate nursing policies and protocols pertaining to standards of nursing practice and experience in quality improvement and research activities.
  • Current knowledge of legislative obligations for Equal Opportunity, Disability Services and Occupational Health and Safety, and how these impact on employment and service delivery.
  • Demonstrated computer information communication technology skills and ability to use a variety of software.
  • Knowledge of current health issues and the organisational culture of rural health services.

Grampians Health Edenhope is located in the Victorian country town of Edenhope.  It is surrounded by nature reserves, wineries and beautiful walking and biking trails. Grampians Health Edenhope also provides a wide range of services such as acute nursing, aged care nursing, district nursing and community nursing to name a few.

This position is paid in accordance with the Nurses and Midwives (Victorian Public Sector) (Single Interest Employers) Enterprise Agreement 2020 - 2024. The classification is Nurse Unit Manager (NM10) which is paid at $59.76 per hour.
