2021 O&G Hospital Medical Officer 
Fixed Term Full Time Positions Available – 1st February 2021 to 30th January 2022
(There is also an option of 6 month positions available)


The Royal Women’s is Australia’s leading independent specialist hospital for women dedicated to improving the health and well being of women of all ages and cultures, and new born babies. The Women’s is recognised as a leader in its field, with expertise in maternity services and the care of newborn babies, gynaecology, assisted reproduction, women’s health and cancer services.


The Women’s is a centre of excellence for perinatal care, research and education, with more than 7,000 births per year. The Maternity Service at the Women’s is structured to provide quality care to women by the most appropriately qualified clinician. Obstetricians in the multidisciplinary teams provide clinical care with midwives, trainees, other medical specialists and allied health practitioners to women from a geographical area and to higher risk women from outside the local area.  In addition some women with complex clinical needs may receive clinical care in specialist clinics.


As a Hospital Medical Officer in Obstetrics you are responsible for the provision of excellent clinical care to women who are outpatients or inpatients of the Women’s, and their babies and families.


All HMO posts are accredited for the Certificate in Women’s Health (CWH) / Diploma in Obstetrics (DRANZCOG), and for general practice training with positions being available at the Women’s @ Sandringham Hospital in a 6 month position/rotation.


The Women’s is committed to providing the best clinical experience and education; rotations are regularly evaluated and may vary from year to year. To accommodate, this position may also include rotations in Gynaecology, the Women’s Emergency and/or Women’s Health.


In 2021 these positions will be available only to HMO's who have completed or will be completing their 2nd year of hospital medical experience at the end of 2020 and commencing their PGY3 year in 2021.


The Women's is committed to ongoing professional development of all junior doctors; a wide range of clinical and audit meetings and specific teaching sessions is provided.

The Classification and Salary scale will be dependent on experience and you will be appointed and in accordance to the AMA Victoria – Victorian Public Health Sector – Doctors in Training Enterprise Agreement 2018-2021.
