ABOUT THE ROLE:

As an Occupational Therapist in the Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) team, you will provide comprehensive assessments to older adults who are motivated to remain living in their own home. Your recommendations will be focused on assisting the clients to achieve their goals and will include education, alternative strategies to engage in occupations, prescription of assistive equipment and home modifications.  The CHSP team are a supportive, friendly team comprising of a Grade 3 Occupational Therapist, Grade 2 Occupational Therapists, Grade 1 Occupational Therapist and Allied Health Assistants. The CHSP team  are also part of the broader Occupational Therapy department based at the Werribee Mercy Hospital, with opportunities to contribute within this team.

  • Mercy Health CHSP Occupational Therapy team- Parkville or Barwon office
  • Full time or flexible, grade 1 and 2, fixed term positions with opportunities to work from home until 30/6/2025 available
  • Provide occupation-based assessments and interventions to address needs regarding personal care, safety, independent living, social, psychological and emotional issues.
  • Work collaboratively with  clients and their significant others to deliver holistic, effective evidence-based care.
  • Be involved in a strong supervision structure and be encouraged to engage in professional development to help you achieve your own career goals.

ABOUT YOU:

  • Recognised degree in Occupational Therapy and AHPRA registration.
  • Hold a valid and current unrestricted driver’s license.
  • Demonstrated understanding and experience of aged care issues, the aged care service system (My Aged care) and empathy with older adults is essential.
  •  Ability to work autonomously, make decisions, organise own workload, monitor own performance and able to meet targets, priorities and meet deadlines is highly desirable.
