Working in Healthcare has never been more important or meaningful

Our Journey:

The Department of Paediatrics, Monash University is partnering with Monash Children’s Hospital to provide appointments in Developmental Paediatrics to support a new clinic and intervention trial for children who experience Developmental Regression. This is a new 0.4FTE fixed term three-year research project position funded by NHMRC, with the purpose of developing research integrated clinical service for children who are referred to Developmental Paediatrics because they have lost developmental skills early in life. The role will also establish an intervention trial comparing two online interventions to support parents of children with developmental regression to achieve their goals.

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Occupational Therapist Grade 4 to take up this fixed term, part-time Developmental Regression Clinic and Trial Coordinator, Developmental Paediatrics role within our Children’s Hospital. We are keen to see you play a key role in supporting a new clinic and intervention trial for children who experience Developmental Regression in a professional and supportive team environment.

About The Role:

As the successful applicant, you would require skills and experience in clinic and trial coordination, including for children with global developmental delay, and will ideally be experienced in working with families of children with autism spectrum disorders, neurogenetic disorders or other complex needs.

You will be the clinic and trial coordinator, working in the clinic and trial teams with developmental paediatricians, a clinical geneticist, a paediatric neurologist, psychologists, occupational therapists, and speech pathologists. The role will include pre-assessment interviews with families, collation of all relevant information prior to clinics, liaising with clinic administration staff to coordinate appointments, and coordinating trial participation for families who consent to be involved.

Improvements of the assessment, intervention and support of children with developmental regression are urgently needed, and this research linked clinical appointment is an opportunity to work in a multidisciplinary team to provide best care, create new knowledge and change outcomes.

There will be no on-call with this role and if weekend work is required it will be instead of week day work because of the establishment of a weekend clinic. You may liaise with NDIS staff to gather information about children seen and may assist families to seek or modify NDIS support when needed.
