About the role


An exciting opportunity is open for an enthusiastic and highly experienced grade 2 Occupational Therapist to join our Occupational Therapy (OT) Team, as the Annual Leave Reliever, within the Community Rehabilitation Program. This is a unique opportunity to work across 4 CRP sites at Peter James Centre,  Wantirna Health, Yarra Ranges Health and Angliss and provide leave cover and back fill for therapists on leave. When leave cover is not required this position will assist the OT team with the provision of therapy assessments and interventions in the CRP team.  Community Rehabilitation team is a highly skilled multidisciplinary team, providing allied health services to clients in their own home and also in a therapy centre.



This permanent position will suit an Occupational Therapist who has a passion for rehabilitation and helping adults achieve their client centred goals, can work autonomously and also as a team member.  Opportunities exist to rotate into various areas such as neurological rehabilitation (including stroke rehabilitation), musculoskeletal rehabilitation, Movement Disorders Clinic, and Early Stroke Discharge (ESD).  The successful application will be supported within a strong supervision structure and will be encouraged to engage in professional development and ongoing evidence based therapy. There will be opportunities for quality and research skill development in-house, from our Organisational Development, Quality Planning and Innovation teams and Allied Health Clinical Research Unit.



About you


To be successful in this role you will possess:



  • Strong commitment to high quality client care

  • Well-developed interpersonal skills

  • High level communication skills, both written and oral, to enable development of good rapport with clients and staff

  • High level of assessment and evidence based OT intervention skills

  • Experience in managing a mixed caseload using a client-centred approach

  • Experience working with in a community setting (desirable)

  • Experience in the area of neurological rehabilitation (highly desirable)


You will be required to:



  • Triage, assess and manage a caseload of clients with complex rehabilitation needs

  • Support the team in managing the day to day operational needs of the service, based on Eastern Health's mission and values

  • Collaborate and develop good working relationships with stakeholders at all levels to ensure effective staff communication processes are in place

  • Deliver a high quality, accessible and coordinated service to clients both in the client's home and in the centre
