  • Are you looking for a senior clinician opportunity to develop your leadership, supervision, clinical expertise, and service development knowledge and skills?

  • Work part time in community rehabilitation setting and work closely with other senior clinicians to lead subacute neurorehabilitation stream initiatives across Barwon Health’s continuum of care to promote continuity of staff development and consumer centred care.

  • This is the job for you as a Grade 3 at Barwon Health working as our Senior Clinician OT - Community Neuro Clinical Lead!

  • Temporary Part Time- 40 hours/fortnight (parental leave cover).

About the role

We have an opportunity for a passionate and experienced Occupational Therapist to provide clinical leadership to our Subacute Neurorehabilitation Stream at McKellar Centre working closely with our inpatient neurorehabilitation Senior Clinician OT and community trauma senior clinician OT. The successful applicant will carry a small clinical community rehabilitation caseload and have the expert clinical experience and leadership skills to supervise a dedicated and enthusiastic team of OTs (2.5eft) and collaborate with key multidisciplinary stakeholders across the continuum to drive the implementation of cohesive evidence based practice. You will form part of the multidisciplinary leadership team of North Geelong’s Community Rehabilitation Centre and have a valuable role in the Occupational Therapy leadership team for Barwon Health’s large Occupational Therapy community of over 150 staff.  As part of these leadership teams you will have a strong voice in shaping service development and improvements.

The Barwon Health Subacute Occupational Therapy team is a committed, dynamic, innovative team with a passion for consumer centred clinical care, service improvement and research.

We have:

  • Specialist senior clinicians in a variety of areas and an occupational therapy site manager for onsite support.

  • Strong partnerships with Deakin University for student education, projects, and research,

  • Successful grant applications for developing a library of assistive technology resources and use of innovative assessment and treatment modalities including SAEBO splint, TAPIT and X-Sensor pressure mapping resources which have led to a number of conference presentations, publications and external presentations.

  • Engage in multicentre Research trials such as the SENSe Implementation with the Florey Institute investigating knowledge translation for evidence based somatosensory rehabilitation post stroke; and Saebo upper limb rehabilitation Research with Melbourne Health.

This role requires you to possess excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills. Knowledge and experience in the delivery of neurorehabilitation programs is essential. A high level of commitment to best practice in consumer focussed care is a must.
