About Barwon Health

Barwon Health is the major public health care provider in the Barwon South west region with a 406 bed public hospital (University Hospital Geelong), 100 bed subacute facility (McKellar Centre), 2 community rehabilitation centres, 21 community health sites, four aged care facilities, university affiliated international research and tertiary education. About the role

We are seeking applications for a passionate Occupational Therapist with clinical leadership, operational management, workforce planning, collaboration and change management experience to:

  • Work 3 days/wk (0.5 eft)

  • Operationally manage acute occupational therapy and outpatient hand therapy services

  • Provide clinical and managerial leadership, mentoring and supervision.

  • Build and drive a well-equipped, capable and sustainable workforce strategy to prepare for the challenges that public healthcare is facing both now and in the years to come.

  • Support  Occupational Therapy service delivery in an area appropriate to the incumbent’s clinical skill set, applying evidence based, informed, client centred care within a multi-disciplinary setting.

  • Be a part of the collaborative Senior Barwon Health Occupational Therapy Leadership and Acute and Hand Therapy interdisciplinary leadership teams

About you

  • High level of leadership experience and expertise with proven success in previous roles requiring these elements.

  • Advanced interpersonal skills, including oral and written communication, leadership and conflict negotiations, in order to facilitate effective team functioning and capacity to apply a variety of styles as appropriate.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead, plan, develop and implement innovative workforce and service initiatives that promote quality patient care and optimal organisational outcomes.

  • High level of ability to work collaboratively and innovatively with other discipline and program senior staff members to develop staff and services.

  • Strong leadership skills within a team environment, including competencies in decision making and in handling a range of complex issues including organisational change, staff competencies, collaboration and conflict resolution.

  • High level analytical thinking and investigative skills involving research, benchmarking and resource identification.

  • Significant knowledge and experience in supervision, coaching, mentoring, peer support and performance development of staff.

  • Effective time management and prioritisation skills.

  • A demonstrated capacity to inspire, influence and motivate staff and to contribute to a positive organisational culture.

  • Positive attitude with high levels of personal resilience & a flexible approach to prepare for the challenges that public healthcare is facing both now and in the years to come.
