About the Department


Barwon Medical Imaging (BMI) is the Department of Radiology at Barwon Health and has five imaging sites located across Geelong including comprehensive imaging at University Hospital Geelong, University Hospital Geelong Building B, McKellar Centre North Geelong, and Barwon Health North, providing approximately 200,000 imaging exams per year for the hospital and community patients.


In January 2020, BMI also expanded to a brand new facility at Barwon Health North.


Barwon Medical Imaging provides a comprehensive range of diagnostic services including X-Ray, OPG, CT, MRI, Ultrasound, Fluoroscopy, Angiography, Mammography, and Nuclear Medicine. These are performed by a team of highly skilled radiologists, radiographers, sonographers, nuclear medicine technologists, nurses and support staff who ensure that all patients have access to quality services.  As the largest imaging provider in the region, BMI utilises State of the Art imaging equipment including the latest Siemens CT’s (2), MRI (2) and PET (1), GE SPECT CT (2), Philip’s Digital x-ray (7) and ultrasound machines (9), all supported by fully integrated AGFA RIS, Fujifilm PACS (Synapse) and Soliton dictation software.


About the role 


The Operations Manager Medical Imaging provides operational oversight and leadership in Medical Imaging, supporting the Director of Medical Imaging in the delivery of integrated, high quality, accessible imaging services across multiple sites throughout the Barwon Health catchment.


Reporting to the Director, the position has a key influential role in the oversight, operational management and development of Medical Imaging in consultation with senior medical staff and clinical leads within Medical Imaging. The position supports and mentors clinical leaders to analyse, plan and develop Medical Imaging to achieve Barwon Health’s strategic objectives.


This position complements the Clinical Support and Communications Manager, Medical Imaging role, working together to oversee provision and development of clinical and operational services in consultation with senior medical staff and clinical leads. Together, with the Director of Medical Imaging these roles drive the Medical Imaging team to achieve Barwon Health’s strategic objectives.
