Suburban Rail Loop is a city and state-shaping project that will transform Victoria’s public transport system, connecting Melbourne’s suburbs and creating opportunities in great places. The 90-kilometre Suburban Rail Loop will link every major rail line from the Frankston line to the Werribee line, via the airport, better connecting Victorians to jobs, retail, education, health services and each other. The project will trigger investment and renewal in the neighbourhoods associated with new stations. It will be constructed in stages across several decades, delivering twin 27km tunnels, six new underground stations and key amenity enhancements to local precincts. This role will be responsible for the overall management of the formation and delivery of a potentially  multi-billion-dollar contract associated with the tunnelling and civil elements of the railway infrastructure. The role requires extensive expertise in large scale programs of works delivery through all the phases from concept design through to handover and operations and maintenance. Specific expertise in contracting in Australia in heavy civils infrastructure industry, including tunnelling and rail, is desirable but not essential. The role requires a sound knowledge of the Australian infrastructure construction and design industry including the various forms of contracting models with evidence of knowledge in like international projects. It also requires the ability to build and maintain high-level influential relationships across a broad range of internal and external stakeholders with excellent verbal and written communication skills.

This role reports to the Director, Rail and Infrastructure and provides the required project management, technical and commercial and contractual input to the successful delivery of the scope of works being managed.
