Paediatric Psychologist - Developmental Paediatrics, Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) Service (Grade 3)

Monash Health is excited to announce a new Paediatric Psychologist Position in the FASD team as part of Developmental and Community Paediatrics.

About the Jacana Service

The FASD service, through Developmental Paediatrics, provides specialist multidisciplinary assessments for children with pre-natal alcohol exposure, who show complex neurological, developmental, and behavioural symptoms. The service also delivers education, information and resources to communities at high risk of Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD), and provides clinical training in FASD diagnosis for paediatricians, psychologists, speech therapists, occupational therapists and social workers. This new role reflects commencement of the Jacana service to provide care to children 0-3 yrs of age.

About The Role

There is the opportunity for a suitably experienced Paediatric Psychologist (0.2 FTE) to join the Jacana team at Monash Children’s Hospital to undertake assessment of children with pre-natal alcohol exposure and broader neurodevelopmental problems who have been identified as being at risk of FASD.  The Psychologist will provide assessment of cognitive skills, consider the role of early life trauma, contribute to multidisciplinary formulation, provide education to students and trainees, and provide targeted clinical recommendations.

Role details:

  • Participation in Thursday AM clinics is required.  In addition, Tuesday PM or Thursday PM is preferred, however can be negotiated.

  • The role is based at Monash Children’s Hospital

  • This role is for a fixed term till May 2025

About You

You are a highly-skilled Paediatric Psychologist with experience in developmental assessment of young children in early intervention, child development, infant mental health or disability settings. You have a passion to work with babies and young children, and are keen to be part of a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team that is building this innovative service.

What You Need

  • Appropriate post-graduate qualifications (Masters or Doctoral Degree) in clinical psychology, clinical neuropsychology or educational and developmental psychology in an Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) accredited course

  • AHPRA endorsement in clinical psychology, neuropsychology or educational and developmental psychology with no restrictions.

  • Demonstrated experience as indicated in position description

  • Psychology Board of Australia approved supervisor

  • Australian working rights
