Paediatric Speech Pathologist - Grade 2

• Permanent Part Time - 4 days per week


• Based at Maroondah Hospital (may need to travel to other sites as required)

About the role

This position will provide clinical speech pathology services to preschool paediatric clients at Community Health, Eastern Health, utilising both group and individual therapy models. This position will work closely with other speech pathologists, paediatric allied health professionals and allied health assistants to ensure effective training empowers parents/caregivers to become key partners in their child’s speech therapy. Supervision will be provided. There are opportunities to upskill in paediatric feeding if desired.

About you 

To be successful in this role you will possess:

• Recognised tertiary qualification in Speech Pathology


• Eligibility for practicing membership of Speech Pathology Australia including demonstrated evidence of professional development activities equivalent to Certified Practising Speech Pathologist requirements


• Current driver’s license


• Advanced clinical skills and demonstrated high level clinical problem solving in paediatric speech pathology.


• Extensive experience in assessment and delivery of therapy in both group and one to one models for clients with communication, speech and language difficulties.


• Demonstrated capacity to utilize a parent training model skilfully and effectively


• Effective interpersonal skills, including communication and conflict management.


• Demonstrated skills in teamwork and collaborative practice


• Demonstrated leadership skills


• Strong organisational and time management skills, efficient work practices


• Demonstrated ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team


• Experience and advanced skills in managing a busy caseload using a client-centred approach


• Experience in effective waiting list management


• High level communication skills, both written and oral, adaptable across a range of audiences.


• Experience in supervision and coaching of staff and/or students


• Demonstrated commitment to maintaining and applying current clinical knowledge through professional development and literature review.


• Demonstrated understanding of professional codes of conduct


• Sound computer skills


• Working with children Check
