Position Summary
As a Paediatric Consultant you will work as part of a multi-disciplinary paediatric service, undertaking paediatric clinical consulting. Successful applicants will participate in Paediatric on call Neonatal roster as required and be the bed card holder for babies in the post-natal period and also if a baby is admitted from the community for observation and management. You will be responsible for Neonatal Resuscitation and Baby checks, discharge planning when on call.
You may be required to assist in the development and drafting of guidelines, policies and procedures necessary for a Level 3 Nursery Service in conjunction with Midwifery Unit Manager, Operations Director of Maternity and the Maternity Educator.
Include participation in 1-2 rapid review clinic sessions per week. This is a new clinic set up for neonatal review of internally referred neonates requiring follow up in the neonatal period. There is scope for a general paediatric clinic for rapid review of children and adolescents requiring rapid follow up of paediatric problems referred internally from Wonthaggi emergency department.
- Would suit general paediatricians, neonatologist or dual trained general paediatrician/neonatologist
- Plan for paediatric ward development in the next few years
- Opportunities for future service development including special care nursery, paediatric ward and outpatients.
