Patient Services Assistant (Night Shift - Floater)

Monash Medical Centre – Clayton

Tuesday to Saturday                                       21:00 to 05:30

(76 hours per fortnight)

Support Services is responsible for the provision of non-clinical services that includes food services, patient support, porters, cleaning, linen, pest control, central production kitchen, waste management, car parking, hygiene services and some retail services.

The General Services team at Monash Medical Centre, is seeking a qualified Patient Services Assistant who strives consistently to deliver high quality and efficient cleaning services.

Shifts available

Tuesday to Saturday                       21:00 to 05:30

(76 hours per fortnight)


A Day in the Life:

Based at Clayton working as a Floater in the night shift role, you will be required to respond to service requests from wards within Monash Health Medical centre this will include JMPH & MCH.  The Patient Services Assistant role incorporates cleaning of patient and ward areas and patient transfers between wards and other clinical areas and other patient related tasks.

Responsibilities will include but not limited to:

  • Patient discharge assistance
  • Discharge cleaning of patient rooms/cubicles
  • Use of lifting machines and slings and at times assisting with Bariatric patients
  • Assisting nursing staff as requested
  • Transfer & cleaning of ward equipment
  • Patient transfers with use of equipment; bed movers and wheelchairs.
  • Dropping off and collection patient related items to various services with the hospital such as pathology, blood bank etc.
  • Responding to the ward requests for patient services related tasks

  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills
  • A commitment to delivering excellent customer service
  • Holds a strong commitment to working effectively as part of a team  
  • Takes pride in your work with great attention to detail
  • Has great time management skills and ability to prioritise tasks 

What you need:

  • Certificate III Health Services Assistant (Essential)
  • Food Handlers Certificate – Level 1
  • Ability to work with a cohesive team or individually to complete daily tasks
  • Excellent understanding of patient identification procedures.
  • Ability to undertake physical work including lifting, carrying and manual handling
  • Excellent understanding of cleaning methodologies and infection control procedures
  • A high standard of demonstrated experience in customer service from a health care or hospitality environment (desirable)
  • Basic to intermediate computer skills
