About us

People and Workplace Services is a group inside the Department of Justice and Community Safety.

The Payroll Services team within People and Workplace Services are responsible for end-to-end payroll including the maintenance and integrity of the Human Resource Information System (HRIS) and the provision of support and advice to employees and key stakeholders. 

About the role

The Senior Payroll Adviser - Reform and Training is responsible for the provision of training and support for all payroll users across the department as well as enhancing and creating efficiencies of payroll services through business process reengineering. 

Some of the key aspects of the role are:

  • contributing to the enhancement and efficiencies of payroll services
  • ensuring payroll reporting, staff training, project planning and delivery processes are in line with operational requirements
  • coordinating the implementation of revised and new payroll practices, including a training and support program and operations manual
  • identifying high priority staff training issues and risks impacting on project schedules and quality.

About you

As a Senior Payroll Adviser – Reform and Training, you will possess:

  • demonstrated knowledge of and experience in human resource services and payroll in a government environment
  • experience and excellent proficiency in the use of CHRIS21 or other payroll systems
  • experience in the design and delivery of training in payroll processes
  • proven experience in delivering high quality and accurate service, with the ability to understand and address client needs
  • demonstrate ability to provide advice, lead and educate your team, colleagues and client base.

A qualification or equivalent experience in human resources, training and/or HR information systems is desirable.
